Freeze The Leftovers!
Have you ever wondered how you could reduce unwanted body fat without the downtime and risks involved with surgery? We all have those stubborn areas on our body where fat cells seems to stick like glue, no matter how much you diet or exercise. CoolSculpting is the most proven technology in non-invasive fat reduction that can specifically target those areas.
FDA-cleared areas to freeze away stubborn fat include:
- Under the chin
- Bra fat
- Upper arm
- Back fat
- Side (Flank)
- Abdomen
- Inner and outer thigh
- Underneath the Buttocks (Banana Roll)
Remind Me, How Does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting uses intense cold temperates to cause fat cell death. This is known as ‘Cryolipolysis’- “Cryo” meaning intense cold and “Lipolysis” meaning fat cell death. Our fat cells are hypersensitive to cold, more so than skin, nerves, and muscle. This is why this treatment is so effective.
“Fat freezes at a higher temperature than water. Think of butter and water in your refridgerator- one remains liquid and the other solid.“
What Can I Expect During a CoolSculpting Treatment?
First, a CoolSculpting template is used to draw on the treatment area. This ensures that both the patient and provider are satisfied with the area being treated. Next, the area is cleansed and a gel pad is applied to protect your skin from the applicator.
Once the applicator is placed and treatment begins, you will feel a slight pulling motion as the vacuum pulls in the tissue of the treatment area. This is followed by the cooling process when you will notice a cold, slight stinging sensation. The feeling can be strange sensation, but there is generally not significant pain.
Right when you begin to think this couldn’t get any colder, the treatment area will become numb. This happens at approximately 8-10 minutes into treatment, with total treatment times ranging from 35 to 75 minutes.
After treatment, a 2-minute massage is performed. Most patients say that this is the most uncomfortable part of the treatment, as the skin has to return to normal temperature. Another slight stinging sensation occurs, similar to the feeling of massaging a bruise, but will dissipate within a couple of minutes. This post-treatment massage is very important as it targets any remaining fat cells that are trying to hold on.
What is the Downtime Like Following CoolSculpting?
The best part about CoolSculpting is that you are able to go on with your day without any downtime and minimal discomfort. If you feel like going back to work, you can. If you want to exercise, you can. If you want to go take a nap, you can. There are no restrictions after treatment.
What you can expect to feel in the treatment area is tenderness to touch. Typically, it feels as if you’ve completed an intense exercise the day prior. Numbness is also common after treatment and can linger for 2-4 weeks. Pinpoint bruising is another possibility, but does not happen with every patient.

What to Look for When Choosing a CoolSculpting Provider?
CoolSculpting treatment outcomes are directly related to the practitioner conducting the treatment. It is important to look for a CoolSculpting Specialists that have been certified by CoolSculpting University. As an ideal, you may want to find a practice that has two CoolSculpting devices which allows for multiple areas to be treated at one time.
CoolSculpting is a very individualized treatment. No two bodies are exactly the same, so you want a provider that takes a tailored approach to creating a treatment plan. For this reason, it is also best to get a physical assessment before receiving a treatment plan quote.
