How long do lip filler injections last?
All lip augmentation procedures at beyond|AESTHETICS are performed using JUVÉDERM products, which are made from hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. The JUVÉDERM filler that we use depends on the patient’s unique cosmetic goals and desired outcome. JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC and JUVÉDERM Ultra XC are the products most often used in lip augmentation procedures and employ proprietary Vycross and Hylacross technology respectively, which allows for longer lasting results of up to one year.
How many syringes will I need?
The number of syringes needed ultimately depends on several factors, including the age of the patient and the amount of volume needed to achieve your desired outcome. Generally, patients need one to two syringes.
What’s the typical product and amount you put in lips?
Most patients seeking lip augmentation desire natural-looking yet full lips. With that in mind, we use JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC and JUVÉDERM Ultra to create full, soft and beautiful lips that blend seamlessly with existing facial features. We’ve achieved incredible results combining both VOLBELLA and Ultra for the ultimate lip augmentation. If you want to dramatically increase the volume in your lips, we recommend staggering your lip injection treatments with one to two syringes once a month until your desired volume is reached.
What if I don’t like the results?
It’s important to us that you love your results and we will work with you to reach your cosmetic goals. Because we use JUVÉDERM products that are composed of a hyaluronic acid solution, we are able to dissolve the filler in the event that you don’t like your outcome.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Lip augmentation with lip filler is a very common procedure and is considered safe. While some patients don’t see any side effects, most see mild to moderate redness, swelling and/or bruising around the lip area. These side effects are temporary and will typically diminish within a day or two.1
Is there anything I should do before my appointment?
We recommend you begin taking Arnica Montana several days before your appointment and continue taking it the day following your procedure. It’s also important to avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, and alcohol as these products can increase the likelihood of swelling and bruising.
How long will the bruising/swelling last?
Some degree of swelling is usually inevitable after lip filler injections, however many patients like the additional volume this swelling can add. If you like the look of your lips directly following your treatment, it may indicate that you require additional filler at subsequent appointments. We recommend waiting until all swelling has subsided, and if you find you want to add more volume, return for another appointment in approximately one month.
Bruising after lip injections generally peaks one to two days following treatment but can linger for up to one week. For most patients, make-up can adequately cover any bruising that hasn’t subsided in several days time.
