You may be familiar with post-treatment care, but understanding what to do before your cosmetic treatment is helpful to maximize your results! Some treatments require more prep work than others, and knowing how to plan will help guarantee a smooth treatment in office, quicker recovery times, and amazing results. At beyond|AESTHETICS, we are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality aesthetic care and we also want to empower you to make the most of your treatments!
Initial Preparation
Please remember to fill out any consent forms that may be applicable to your treatment or come in 5 minutes early to complete them in the office. For all treatments, it is helpful to familiarize yourself with the aftercare as well, again so you can be as prepared as possible. This is also helpful in case you have any more questions on the day of your treatment.
At Home Skincare Before Your In-Office Treatment
With any aesthetic treatments, the right skin care products will always help enhance your results.
Examples of high quality skin care products that can help prep skin before a treatment:
- Alastin Skin Nectar: Great for before ablative/laser treatments. Use for up to 1 week prior, helps to make room for new collagen & elastin production in skin cells.
- Epionce Lytic Tx and the Epionce Lytic line: This leave-on botanical chemical exfoliant aids in cell turnover to improve the overall health of your skin—which increases treatment results.
- SkinMedica TNS+: An advanced formula that improves the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, skin tone, and texture.

Preparing for an Aesthetic Consultation
Please come to your appointment with a freshly washed face or be prepared to wash your face once you arrive. We need to see your skin in order to make the best recommendations for you!
Preparing for Laser Hair Removal
For laser hair removal:
- Shave the area you are treating the day of your appointment. We want a hair follicle visible but no hair outside of the skin.
- You can not have done any root-removal hair removal services at least 4 weeks prior to laser hair removal; this includes waxing, sugaring, nair, etc..
- Please come with your most natural skin tone. No sunburns or fake tans.
Preparing for BOTOX
For BOTOX:
There is no prep needed for BOTOX! But when you are planning your appointment day, please remember that you cannot lay down flat or workout for 4 hours after your treatment.
Preparing for Injectable Filler
For fillers:
- Using arnica in the days leading up to your appointment can be beneficial.
- Some swelling and bruising is common after fillers, so make sure you do not schedule your filler appointment before any big events or dental procedures.
Preparing for Microneedling
For Microneedling:
- You can schedule extra time in your appointment for numbing the skin or you can come to the office a few days prior to pick up numbing cream to apply at home yourself.
- Keep in mind that you could be red & dry for the next 72 hours when scheduling your appointment.
- If you have active acne, be prepared to not be treated in those areas as the bacteria could spread from treatment.
Preparing for HALO
For HALO:
- You can schedule extra time in your appointment for numbing the skin or you can come to the office a few days prior to pick up numbing cream to apply at home yourself.
- Pick up prescriptions and start taking them if you’ve elected to have a prescription called in.
- When scheduling your appointment, account for at least a week of recovery.
- Confirm with your practitioner that you are not on any medication that would make you more sensitive to the sun.
Preparing for CoolSculpting
For CoolSculpting:
- Make sure you have had a consultation with one of our practitioners to ensure you are a good candidate and get an accurate treatment plan.
- On the day of your treatment come in comfortable clothing with something to keep you occupied for a few hours (a charged phone, laptop or book).
Preparing for PRP & PRFM
For PRP & PRFM:
-
Come well-hydrated and having eaten a meal of sustenance.
Let our front desk know if you have a needle phobia so your practitioner can be informed and take any precautions necessary.
Preparing for Broad Band Light
For BBL:
- For both forever young and forever clear we ask that you wash your face before coming into the office or be prepared to wash when you arrive.
- Be prepared for potential swelling and redness following your treatment.
- Confirm with your practitioner that you are not on any medication that would make you more sensitive to the sun.
Preparing for Chemical Peels
