The world of aesthetics can be intimidating and knowing where and how to start your treatment journey can seem a bit overwhelming. A good provider’s job is to make that path smooth and rewarding. My belief is that each person’s journey should start with a provider consultation so you may clearly lay out your goals and discuss the proper calendarizing of aesthetics treatments to follow through with your plan. It is possible to set realistic and achievable goals in order to find long-term value, so long as you adhere to your provider’s prescription consistently. I like to remind patients that correction and maintenance go hand-in-hand and once past the initial cost of correction, maintenance requires less time and so is generally less expensive.
Calendarizing Laser Treatments
Your treatment plan might begin with laser or light-based treatment like a HALO (Hybrid Fractional Laser) or BBL (Broad-Band Light). BBL has the best results with 3-6 treatments for correction, and then once every 3-4 months for maintenance. HALO can penetrate the skin’s deeper layers and is best to have 1-3 treatments for correction, and recommended once a year for maintenance. Both HALO and BBL can be combined for even greater results.

One of the best examples of why it is important to calendarize treatments is Laser Hair Removal. This is due to the fact that treatments must be timed according to the growth cycles of hair in order to get optimal reduction. Priority should be placed on these follow up series of appointments, otherwise you could potentially increase the number of treatments need for the desired results.
Calendarizing Injectable Treatments
When it comes to facial filler it is important to remember that it is better to treat to full correction and to return for “top-offs” every 6-12 months to maintain your desired look. Maintenance visits will be more cost effective and results will be longer lasting. Here are a few guidelines for various treatment areas for filler:
- Mid-Face, such as cheeks, should be done every 18-24 months
- Perioral/Lips every 6-12 months
- Jawline/Chin once a year

Similarly, great Botox results are best achieved by visiting your provider every 3-4 months or when you start to see movement. It is important to not let your movement fully return before your next Botox appointment, as it’s easier to maintain a natural and even look when treatments are done consistently.
Calendarizing esthetician Treatments
I always recommend that patients visit an esthetician for various treatments throughout their aesthetic calendar. DermaSweep is a wonderful, quick treatment that activates cell turnover and gives your face a beautiful glow. Correcting certain issues takes a treatment every 2 weeks for a couple months and then about every 6 weeks to maintain. Another plan may include chemical peels with 3-4 courses of treatment for correction and perhaps 3-4 treatments a year to maintain. Of course, these treatments compliment a good facial routine. A good esthetician offers personalized facials that are the foundation of a top-notch skincare plan.
Calendarizing your in-office treatments is only the first step. Maintaining your results at home with medical-grade skincare products is the book-end of your aesthetic investment, so don’t waste any part of it by using inferior product. You wouldn’t order a $75 steak and then slather it in ketchup (at least I hope you wouldn’t)! Providers can customize your personal skincare routine with a variety of products and it is crucial to not overlook the varying needs of your skin throughout the seasons. Your skin is unique and with skincare, one size does not fit all.
